Plays For The Planet: Rainforest

Plays for the Planet is a creative drama project where pupils explore the theme of the Rainforest through drama, movement, music and character-building, inspiring care and curiosity for the natural world. Sessions use co-creation techniques, are highly participatory and build imagination, teamwork and confidence.

Workshops are suitable for KS1 and KS2, and are tailored to each class and their learning needs.

These sessions support curriculum development areas including:

  • Communication & teamwork — pupils work together through games and activities to build characters, share ideas and listen to others.
  • Creative thinking & problem-solving — children explore themes, make choices, and find imaginative solutions through drama.
  • Physical, social & emotional skills — developing body awareness, spatial awareness, movement, focus and confidence when working with others.

All activities are designed to be accessible, inclusive and positive, and are adapted for each age group.

Teacher Resource Pack

A Schools Resource Pack is available to download here. The pack includes activities that can be used after the workshops by schools who have taken part, or as a stand-alone classroom resource for those who have not.

"The workshop allowed children who are usually quite reserved and don't have access to activities like this to be creative and express themselves"
— Teacher
"The children had an opportunity to express themselves, work collaboratively, show understanding and respect towards each other".
— Teacher
"The main highlight was observing some of our less engaged pupils fully thriving during the activity. We thought the adults running the workshop were amazingly engaging and taught the adults alongside the pupils".
