In partnership with Theatre31

Every year, the National Youth Dance Company (NYDC) holds free workshops across England to meet hundreds of young dancers and give a taste of what life is like as part of the company. In partnership with Theatre31, this year for the first time they will be holding workshops in Medway.

The workshop is a great opportunity to meet members of NYDC, try new dance styles and learn about dance training and career pathways. It’s also a first stage audition for anyone who wants to become a company member. However, all dancers are welcome to join in with the workshop even if they’re not sure if they want to join the company.

Who can take part

You can take part in the workshop if you are ages 16-18, or up to 24 for those who are deaf or disabled, and not currently enrolled on a full time vocational dance course.

NYDC is an inclusive company and celebrates diversity. Their workshops welcome dancers from all backgrounds, dance styles and levels of experience and are designed to ensure that each individual can take away something new from their time in the studio.

What is NYDC?

National Youth Dance Company (NYDC) is England’s flagship youth dance organisation. They bring together talented young dancers from across the country to work with leading artists and create world-class performances.  They support young artists to realise their potential and gain an insight into the dance profession.

How much does it cost?

The workshops are FREE for all participants. The priority for NYDC is that it is accessible for all dancers, the cost of company membership is £620 per year, but they also provide means tested scholarships and bursaries to cover up to 100% of the course fee to ensure no young person turns down their place due to financial reasons
