This exciting commission from Theatre31 saw four Sheppey Primary schools work with Paper Balloon Theatre to create original Sea Shanty music videos.

Over the course of several fun and exciting workshops, year 6 students co-created original music and stories, working with award-winning composer Darren Clark to engage with Sheppey’s maritime heritage.

Pupils also devised accompanying movement, featuring either contemporary dance or physical theatre and puppetry that was facilitated by Paper Balloon’s experienced directors and choreographers.

Created when the UK was still in lockdown, Sheppey Shanties explored ways to celebrate youth-led creativity through music and drama during an uncertain time, championing young people and our community.
