To celebrate the final easing of lockdown restrictions in Summer 2021, our team of Theatre31 Facilitators toured a free drama festival for young people across Medway and Sheppey.
Over a two day programme, the young people took part in series of workshops and masterclasses that introduced them to a wide range of drama techniques – from improvisation to physical theatre. All leading up to ‘A Play In A Day’, where the young people worked together to create and perform their own piece of theatre. While our Facilitators were their to guide and give young people the skills, in true Theatre31 style, the final performances were youth-led.
Hot off the heels of this hugely successful tour, we launched our Theatre31 Youth Theatres the following Autumn. As we opened our doors in Chatham, Gillingham, Hoo and Sheppey, we were joined by so many familiar faces from the Festival, who continue to take part today. For them, the Summer Festival would just be the start.
